Age: CB24 Baby
Sex: Female
Morph: Normal, het Albino
Adult size range: 24” - 36” (Females larger than males)
Handling: Friendly
Suitability: Well-researched Beginner
Western Hognose snakes are mildly rear-fanged venomous as a hunting adaptation. If a person is bitten, this can act similarly to a bee sting, with some people being more prone to a reaction (swelling and itching) than others. That being said, this species do not tend to bite unless provoked and feeling threatened, and are more likely to give a warning heat butt.
Enclosure recommendations
Adult females should be housed in 3ft long enclosures as a minimum size. Babies can be housed in smaller hatchling snake kits until this is outgrown. Thermostatically controlled and guarded overhead heating or a heat mat should be provided. Temperatures should be measured with a digital thermometer or heat gun.
