  • Handling: Lovely to handle, little sassy as all good Hognoses are! All huff and no bite.

  • Size range: males average between 14 - 25” and females will average 28 - 36” at maturity

  • Housing and habitat: would currently suit a a 2ft or 3ft Vivarium or similar sized terrarium. arid type setup with a basking spot of 30 - 32c

  • Suitable for: beginners

Similar care to corns but at a reduced size being one of the smaller species we regularly stock and produce in house. Males average only 2 ft with females growing to around 3 ft so a vivarium of similar length works perfectly for them.

This species is known as rear-fanged venomous - a scary name for a not so scary adaptation - they use a bacteria in their mouths to improve their hunting odds.

This can act similarly to a bee sting with some people being allergic and more prone to swelling and itching of the bite site. That being said this species isn’t overly bitey and is more likely to give a warning head butt if provoked.
