Handling: They become very confident and will hand feed
Adult Size: Ranges from 2-3ft in shell length
Non-hibernating species
Suitable for: Well-researched beginners who have the space to provide for a large species
Enclosure recommendations
This species does not hibernate, so must be kept under overhead heating and UV lighting all year round.
As adults they require a very large indoor enclosure, or a well-insulated and heated outdoor shed with access to an outdoor garden space in the hot summer months to roam during the day.
