  • Morph: Wild Type / Standard

  • Suitable for: Beginner Reptile or Snake keeper

  • Captive bred? yes approx CB23

  • Handling: fast as youngsters which will improve with age and regular handling.

  • Maximum adult size: 5ft

  • Housing and habitat: at current would do well in a rub or small vivarium with upgrade to a 4ft x 2ft vivarium with thermostatically controlled over head heating as adult.

A great choice when it comes for a first, second or third pet snake. Often overlooked due to the fame of Corn Snakes this is an incredibly similar species however, much more affordable! A hardy species perfect for new keepers to learn the ropes with a sweet nature and manageable size.

Females will be larger than males and can be expected to reach 5 ft in length requiring an adult tank size approximately 4ft x 2ft as appose to males which typically do well in a 4ft. For adults we would advice thermostatically controlled over head heating set to a 30-32*C basking spot. However, babies tend to do fine on heat mats given their lighter body weights.

The benefit of going for a baby animal is the enjoyment of watching them grow and the reduced space and costs for the first set ups - although these will need to be upgraded as the animal grows.

Our babies are currently eating once a week, and all sizes and style of feeding are documented onto personal feeding cards - which come with them to their new home. As these animals mature they will move onto larger items less often. Provided your snake is of good body proportions feed items should be a similar width to the widest part of their body.

Hatchling kits available from £145.
