Lifespan: 15 to 25 years
Handling: Turtles are best kept as a display pet
Suitability: Beginners
Natural Habitat: River systems of North America
Enclosure recommendations
Best kept alone, adult Map Turtles should be housed in a 3 to 4ft long aquarium as a minimum size, with strong filtration and a water heater.
Turtles also require an easily accessible basking area outside of the water, to allow them to dry off to avoid fungal issues whilst basking under UV lighting.
